These paintings represent the moment in time in which a person is suspended in their thoughts. The honesty of their character and their state of being is what I wish to capture. The subjects are caught in moments of ambiguity. Some of these figures are shown in a state of unrest and tension. For others, the interior scenario can be vague, softly uneasy, yet also content with their own presence. There is constant change within the work style, which coincides with the fluctuations of our nature.

The gesture of a body is like the foundation of a building. It is the skeletal structure holding all the parts together. Capturing this foundation is an instinctual way of creating, and a critical aspect of my work. Layers are applied and erased. Some of these images have been reworked to the point where they are saturated, and others have been left alone after a quick movement.
